Most commonly used in sound system indoors and outdoors is a crossover,, this tool can not be separated in their usage needs associated with the name of the speaker and audio system. I will try to briefly explain the basic principles crossover based on their role and type.
Usefulness crossover is:
- Change certain frequencies
- Limiting the frequency range that will be accepted by the speaker.
- Set the current signal to the tweeter, midrange, midwoofer, and bass to the subwoofer.
Type crossover:
1. Passive Crossover:
-Work after receiving the output signal from the amplifier
*Weaknesses:
-Less effective for wasting power amplifier, because the passive crossover frequency have been processed in boost (increase)by amplifier

2. Aktive crossover :
- Signal generated by the head unit (pure signal), divided according to the desired frequency, boosted (boost) by the amplifier so that the amplifier to work more efficiently, and the resulting frequency more organized in accordance with their respective purposes (tweeter, midrange, woofer, subwoofer )
*Weaknesses:
- Use a +12 V power, ground, and remote. In theory this can cause "noise" on the audio system.
Crossover-active work by cutting unnecessary frequencies so that the amplifier can focus on the desired frequency.

My suggestion to raise a little audio sound quality just enough with passive crossovers, but if wants to raise the quality of sound that really a good choose active crossover but it also requires a special installation especially for the power cable and the ground cable to avoid noise in the audio system, also always use a good quality product in every component.
That's approximately an overview of croosover commonly used in the world of sound system indoors and outdoors .. Hopefully our little knowledge can be useful for those who do not know ..... thank you
