Part and Type of speaker

Speaker is an electronic component that consists of a coil , a magnet membrane and inter-related parts . Without the membrane , a speaker will not make a sound , and vice versa . Speaker parts are interrelated and complement each other .
The speaker function is to change the electrical waves into sound vibrations . Process of converting electrical waves / electromagnetic waves into sound occurs due to the flow of AC electrical current audio from an audio amplifier into the coil that generates a magnetic force that will move the membrane , Strong received weak electric currents , will affect the vibration of the membrane , the membrane pulsate produce sound waves which we can hear .

Speaker parts and their functions  :

Conus ( diaphragm ) > Function of producing a pressure wave caused by the movement of the surrounding air caused by the movement of the coil . This wave that we hear as sound .
Membrane  > Function is to receive induction of magnets to produce sound as a result of vibration .
Magnet  > Function is to induce membrane and generates a magnetic field.
Coil  > Function is to drain the energy of motion to Conus . Changes in the magnetic field will cause the moving coil speaker as a result of interaction with a constant magnetic field .
Speaker parts


The building blocks of most of the speakers as the casing is metal but Conus as one of the speakers can be made ​​of several kinds of materials , paper ( paper press and non- press paper ) , plastic ( plypropylene , mica , polycarbonate ) , metals ( titanium , copper , berrylium ) , and composite ( mixed materials , eg carbon fiber , optical fiber and Kevlar honeycomb ) .
Frequency range sound speaker system is able to produce between 20 Hz - 20 kHz , and it is in accordance with the range of human hearing frequency . Based on that frequency range , the speakers subdivided into several types .

The types of speakers :

1 . Midrange :
speaker who is generally measured about 3-4 inches with a frequency range of 350 - 4500Hz . The midrange is usually included in 1 set 3-way car audio system . Duty to help you enhance or accommodate high frequency vowel sounds to be more focused and clear .


2 . Tweeter :
is usually small speakers 0.5 -inch , most besarpun measuring 4 inches, depending on the brand and capabilities frequency coverage . Function is a tweeter to reproduce the high frequencies in the range of 3500 Hz coverage to 20 Khz . Examples of high-frequency sounds such as the sound is like a vocal , drum and cymbal clatter of other musical instruments . Tweeter was also known as the super tweeter / ribbon tweeter . This type has a shape different from regular tweeters , usually rectangular shaped thin plate and is able to produce a high frequency sound that can not be reached by regular tweeter , which is in the range of 5-23 kHz .

3 . Subwoofer / Woofer :
This one speaker function is to deliver low frequency sound or bass sound . For the woofer is limited in the frequency range 100 Hz or below , but the woofer is capable of spitting sounds in the frequency range 40 Hz and below can be called as a subwoofer . In general, the subwoofer has a size of 12 , 15 , 18 inch woofer while about 8-10 inches .


4 . Midbass :
is the kind of speaker that is also commonly called midwoofer , function to produce the sound frequency range of 80-350 Hz . The resulting sound is dominated midbass in a low voice . Usually midbass has a diameter of 5-7 inches .


5 . Fullrange :
 The type of speaker that can reproduce audio signals in all frequency bands range audio .


6 . Horn speaker : 
Kind produced specifically to reproduce the audio signal in the range of human vocal frequency waves .



Types of speakers based design / shape :

1 . Dual Cone Speaker
Design consists of 2 pieces of speaker cone ( conical ) .


2 . Speaker Coaxcial ( Centralized )
Speaker design consists of a woofer , midrange and tweeter in one axis and contiguous . This device is designed deliberately produce more flat frequency . (Eg speakers : 2 Way , 3 Way Speaker , Speaker 4 Way ) .


3 . Speaker Split ( Separate )
This kind of speakers are a breed apart . Woofer , midrange and tweeter separately . The speaker comes with a crossover that aim to divide the frequency of the sound ( low frequency tones . Middle and high ) :
  a. Consists of 2 Way Speaker Woofer , Tweeter and Crossover .
  b . Consists of 3 Way Speaker Woofer , Midrange , Tweeter and Crossover .
