MICKING TECHNIQUES

Micking techniques is one of the recording process by way of pointing the mic directly into the mic cabinet speaker.Using good equipment needed for recording in the studio or in a live musical performance,so that the resulting music sounds really good quality. How to use a less precise mic will produce a sound system that is less perfect.Perfect sound is meant here is the result of approaching the authenticity of the sound corresponding to put the sound source. We should be able to make free voice from other sounds in addition to the desired sound source,or free from noise environment, but the color should keep remain the recorded natural voice sounded. We will apply miking techniques and preparation demanded perfection as i do in general instrument recording music tool. For this occasion I try to give you an idea of miking techniques for recording guitar .

Basic Preparation :
- Make sure the sound settings of the guitar amps which we will record already in the desired state.
- Try to problems like thin guitar sound, noise, too bright, buzzy could be avoided .
- Replace with a new guitar strings .
- Pickup guitar also became one of the most important in the basic preparation. If you use active pickups, make sure the batteries in the new state .
- Also check the condition of the amp and speaker cabinet .
- Prepare mic with the most commonly used type is the type of SM-57 (for Instruments).
When you have prepared all of the basic, then we will proceed to the next stage is to record with miking techniques.

How to record with miking techniques :
- The first step, position the microphone right in front of the conical speaker.Try listen to the result,if still not to your liking you try to slide the mic position little by little until the obtained sound to your liking .
- Try also to tilt the mic 45 degrees,to change the frequency response .
- To get ambiens (sound room),place the microphone 1 meter to 2 meters of your speaker cabinet .
 - Note the difference in phase (switch back and forth phase button on the mixer),will you hear the difference.Choose the best according to you.
- Try to be a guitar player in front monitor speaker or control room.(if you have a separate control room), listen to your guitar sound from the monitor speakers, rather than directly from the speaker cabinet Because from the monitor speakers the difference would be much more pronounced position .
- It takes patience to get the best results have been obtained maksimum, mark the position of that mic.Now you are able to do the recording process with miking techniques after passing all of the above.

From the above basic miking techniques is still a lot of variations that can be considered but in my opinion it is the most common thing that used. You could also try to do other things, such as recording two times on different tracks or you can only play once but recorded to two tracks, one track recorded direct through out pre amps and the other with miking techniques. Then each track in the extreme pan to the right and to the left,(see mixer on balance settings).
